The founding strategy of our firm is based on protecting principle for our clients.  While we strive to beat the appropriate indexes, our main concern is our clients, our interaction with them and growing their assets.  Below is our history:

1967 – John W. Thompson earns a M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

1973 – John W. Thompson is Senior Trust and Investment Officer at Firstar Bank in Madison, WI.

1980 – John W. Thompson earns his CFA designation.

1984 – John W. Thompson becomes co-founder and President of Thompson, Plumb Associates.

1987 – John W. Thompson becomes co-founder and Chairman of Thompson Plumb Funds.

1992 – The Thompson Plumb Bond Fund (THOPX) is established.

1992 – The Thompson Plumb Growth Fund (THPGX) is established.

1993 – John C. Thompson becomes Research Analyst at Thompson, Plumb Associates.

1997 – John C. Thompson earns his CFA designation.

1999 – John C. Thompson earns a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

2001 – Roland Reinholtz, CFA joins our firm.  After heading up the equity division at First Wisconsin (now US Bank) Rollie established Northern Capital Management as a founding partner and Chairman.  Rollie has 45 years of investment experience.

2004 – John W. Thompson becomes President of Thompson Investment Management.  John C. Thompson becomes Vice-President of Thompson Investment Management and President of the Thompson Plumb Funds.

2004 – Marian Quade (Zentmyer), CFA joins our firm.  Marian started managing equity mutual funds in 1989.  She was promoted to First Wisconsin’s (US Bank) Head of U.S. Equities in 1998.

2008 – The Thompson Plumb MidCap Fund (THPMX) is established with John W. Thompson as Portfolio Manager.

2008 – James T. Evans and Jason L. Stephens are named co-portfolio managers of the Thompson Plumb Bond Fund.
